These are the people who serve the people of Covenant…
Randy Monk- Lead Pastor
Randy serves as the lead pastor of Covenant. He brings a strong passion for Christ, a deep desire to see people experience the transforming grace of God in their lives, and a commitment to helping establish Covenant as a community of faith where all can become deeply committed Christians. He received his undergraduate degree from Augusta State University (Go Jags!), a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary (Go Flying Fleet?), and is working on a doctorate in Church Leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC.
Randy is the father of two daughters, Jessica, a student at Augusta Tech, and Elaina, a student at Lakeside High School. He is a fan of reading, writing, and sometimes arithmetic. He also is a huge fan of college football, and likes to take the bike out for a spin from time to time. His goals for the next couple of years include the completion of his doctorate, learning to play the guitar, hiking some part of the Appalachian Trail, and making sure that Covenant is a place where people can truly experience the love of Christ through dynamic worship, solid teaching, and opportunities to serve others.
Brandon Strawbridge- Minister to Students
Brandon Strawbridge is Covenant’s Minister to Students. He is very passionate about students. Brandon will create atmospheres in which he will involve, inspire, and excite the youth to be passionate followers of Christ. He is bringing creativity, humor, and a whole new style of youth ministry to Covenant. He is gifted in being able to relate to students and connect to them. Brandon has been involved in many different ways with youth and youth ministry for at least 6 years and is planning to go even longer. He hopes to bring some new exciting things to Covenant.
Brandon’s goals for the next few years: get married to my girlfriend (Hannah), see God work in his youth, establish a growing ministry, have a ton of fun. (No particular order) Also along with hanging out with students Brandon enjoys being outside and doing things like kayaking, mountain biking, ultimate Frisbee, running, skipping, no not skipping, playing any kind of sport not shown on TV (foosball, table hockey, dodge ball, etc.)
Tina Powers- Music Director
Tina grew up on Long Island, New York. At age 7 she found her love for music when she began taking piano lessons. Soon she was a student of Dr. Anna Maria Bottazzi in Manhattan. Tina’s performing experience spans from local churches to venues such as Steinway Hall and Carnegie Recital Hall. Tina was the head piano instructor/coordinator at The Piano Shoppes Inc of NY from 1992 through 2001 while running a home piano studio as well. Since moving to Augusta in 2002 she has continued to run a home piano studio, currently with 38 students.
Tina serves as Covenant’s Music Director, providing leadership to both the choir and the Worship Ensemble, a diverse group of musicians who combine their gifts to create a modern-traditional style of worship music. Her vision for Covenant’s music ministry is to cultivate the choir and integrate more musicians, giving opportunity for members of the congregation to share their unique gifts of music.
