In Worship

Join us as we take on several challenging topics that the church has a tendency to avoid.   The series is designed to engage those outside the church and challenge those inside.

February 12:  Human Sexuality

This week’s topic covers a broad spectrum, as we explore God’s healthy design for sexuality and how that design has been exploited.  We will discuss candidly the more public and controversial issue of homosexuality and the tension that exists within the church and between the church and society as a whole, as well as unhealthy expressions that degrade the sacred worth of individuals and groups.  This topic may not be suitable for all ages, and parents are encouraged to use discretion.  Our children’s ministry offers a separate worship service each week, and all children are welcome to participate in the Kid Zone worship upstairs during the service.

February 19:  Cultural Christianity

Does the church influence the culture in which it exists, or is the other way around?   This week’s topic challenges those inside the church more than those outside to consider the effect of culture on the church.   We will look at how the church can remain focused on its calling in the midst of a changing culture without becoming irrelevant.

February 26: Sanctity of Life

In this sermon we will examine the issues that call into question our views on the sanctity of life.  Such topics as abortion, capital punishment, and suicide will be explored in an attempt to find a Scriptural response.

March 4: Faith and Politics, part 1

What role does faith have in the political realm?  What role does the political realm have on faith.  This topic will address the church and state debate, as well as consider how the church is and is not called to take a part in governmental affairs.

March 11: Faith and Politics, part 2

This week our focus on politics turns inward, and looks at the political nature of the church.  An emphasis will be placed on the harm this does to those inside the church and outside.
